Junior Materials & Process Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Materials & Process Engineer to support the selection, evaluation, and control of materials and manufacturing processes used in production. This is an entry-level role ideal for recent graduates or engineers with early career experience who are interested in developing expertise in materials, special processes, and manufacturing operations.
You will work under the guidance of senior engineers while collaborating with production, quality, and suppliers to ensure materials and processes meet engineering and customer requirements.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Materials Support

  • Assist in reviewing material certifications and test reports.
  • Support maintenance of approved material lists and specifications.
  • Help evaluate materials for use in production components.
 
Process Support
  • Assist in developing and documenting manufacturing processes.
  • Support control of special processes such as:
    • adhesive bonding
    • heat treating
    • plating and anodizing
    • coatings and surface finishing
  • Help ensure processes follow established procedures and specifications.
 
Testing & Data Analysis
  • Assist in coordinating material and process testing.
  • Compile and review test data for engineering evaluation.
  • Support documentation of test results and reports.
 
Production Support
  • Work with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot material or process-related issues.
  • Support root cause investigations for defects or nonconformances.
  • Help implement corrective actions under guidance.
 
Supplier Interaction
  • Assist with supplier communication related to materials and processes.
  • Support supplier qualification and documentation review.
 
Compliance & Documentation
  • Help ensure compliance with standards such as:
    • ASTM International
    • SAE International
  • Maintain accurate engineering and process documentation.
 
Qualifications
 
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in:
     
    • Materials Engineering
    • Metallurgical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Chemical Engineering
      or related field
(recent graduates encouraged to apply)
  • Internship, co-op, or academic project experience in manufacturing or materials is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
 
 
Preferred
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes such as machining, heat treat, or coatings.
  • Familiarity with basic materials testing (tensile, hardness, etc.).
  • Interest in aerospace or high-reliability manufacturing environments.

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
